Chapter 9 – Agent-based Models

Chapter 9 models of the Springer Book “Agent-based business process simulation”

Chapter 9. Beyond process simulation

ABBPS_Process-discovery-alpha-algorithm

Alpha algorithm NetLogo demonstration for business process discovery. This is one of the first Process Mining algorithm that discovers Workflow Nets (in form of Petri Nets) from logs. Three main rules are: i) Direct succession A > B if the log includes traces where A is followed by B; ii) Causality: A >> B it there are traces A >> B and no traces B >> A; iii) Parallel A || B if there are both A >> B and B >> A. The program illustrate also the footprint of the Log which is the set of all relations.

ABBPS_Manage-XES

This model imports in NetLogo a real-life Event Log in XES format to analyse main features and attributes, as well as represent a Direct Follower Graph, which is a graphical representation of a business process widely used in Process Mining discipline.
